Torridon

We're excited to announce that Innovation Pod will be running its award-winning Coding club at Torridon Primary School in April 2023.  Read about our curriculum and find full details about the clubs below.

Years 1 - 2

Children in KS1 module will take part in our exhilarating Coding with Fuzzies and Creative Music module. ‘Coding with Fuzzies’ is an exciting module where children code fuzz-balls and navigate various mazes and puzzles. Along the way, they’ll learn the fundamental principles of coding. In this musical module, children learn and apply their coding skills to create melodies and rhythm that come out of their computer’s speakers. They apply these skills across four different platforms, including the virtual micro:bit and Pencil Code Gym. This module is an excellent opportunity for the children to learn about how they can be creative with their coding as they build up their block coding skills whilst also learning a little bit about music creation.

Years 3-6

Children in KS2 will be studying our thrilling Minecraft Coding and Scratch Gamers modules. Our ‘Minecraft Coding’ module takes the ever-popular Minecraft platform as an inspiration to teach children how to design and code. Fans of Minecraft and children who have never used the platform all love this module. Our Scratch Gamer module uses the Scratch platform to introduce children to creating their own arcade-style computer game that can be played by themselves and others. Using classic retro games such as Pac-Man and Berzerk as inspiration, children learn how to use coding to create player and computer controlled characters that move around and interact within maze environments. As the module progresses, children will be taught to use variables, conditionals and events to end up with a fully playable and enjoyable arcade game.

Dates and times:
Clubs take place straight after school until 4:30 pm

Years 1&2: Mondays
From 24th April - 17th July
Years 3-6: Tuesdays
From 25th April - 18th July

Snack: 
As our club is straight after school, parents can pack a healthy snack in accordance with the school's food policies.  

Pick-up and drop off:
Children are collected from their classroom and taken straight to their club.  At the end of the session, children will be either picked up by a guardian from the front entrance or taken to another provision at the school.

Price:
£5.50 (plus VAT) per session.  Payment for the full 12 weeks is taken as a one-off Direct Debit of £79.20. 

This is NOT a recurring payment and you will NOT be entered into a subscription.
