Specialist Teachers PPA

An important area of our work is supplying specialist teaching staff in schools.  This allows schools to cover classroom teachers while they take their PPA time (planning, preparation and assessment) while simultaneously ring-fencing certain areas of the curriculum to relinquish their staff from full curriculum responsibilities.  This is obviously a popular model for primary schools and it also works for us as our specialist teachers will then teach after-school clubs at the school.

What does the role look like?

Specialist teachers work in schools from around 8:30am - 4:30pm.  They provide specialist lessons in our subjects, which include: ICT, Science and English to all ages of primary school children.  They will typically repeat the lesson to several classes within the same year groups which reduces the amount of planning time the teacher will need to do.  Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to: playtime duties, after-school clubs and school trips.

Personal Attributes

Teachers will need to use their personality and teaching skills to make lessons fun and exciting and yet calm and orderly.  The role would be ideal for individuals with a strong presence, high expectations of children, a professional demeanor and bags of charisma.
