Innovation Pod will be continuing its award-winning Coding and Robotics club at Hillyfield Primary in September 2023.  Read about our curriculum and find full details about the clubs below.

Years 1 - 2

Children in KS2 will be studying our thrilling Coding with Cartoons and J2Code modules. This KS1 beginners module uses the J2Code website to teach children about coding sprites to move around in different environments, using three different coding platforms which support with building up directional coding knowledge. Children get the opportunity to code rockets, trucks, spiders and even Cinderella! Cartoon Coding is a pupil-favourite module where the children bring their favourite characters from disney to life through the use of code. They’ll need to apply sequences, loops, conditionals and events to solve some tricky coding problems.

Years 3 -6

​Children in KS2 will be studying our thrilling Code Combat and Web Development modules. In Code Combat, pupils will need to type lines of Python to complete a series of exciting programming games. They will solve puzzles and learn the basics of this important coding language, including: syntax, arguments, strings, loops, variables, and algorithms. This Introduction to Web Development module uses the free online coding platform Trinket to teach children beginner skills in the two of the main coding languages for webpage creation - HTML and CSS. Children  learn how to structure and style webpages with images, lists, fonts, quotes, links, and animation and in the process, make interactive webpages with art, emojis and flip cards.

Dates and times:
Clubs take place straight after school until 4:30pm

Park Site
Years 1&2:  Mondays
From 18th September - 13th November
Years 3-6:  Wednesdays
From 20th September - 15th November

Hill Site
Years 1&2:  Tuesdays
From 19th September - 14th November
Years 3-6:  Fridays
From 22nd September - 17th November

Pick-up and drop off:
Children are collected from their classroom and taken straight to their club.  At the end of the session, children will be either picked up by a guardian from the front entrance or taken to another provision at the school.

Snack:
As our club is straight after school, parents can pack a healthy snack in accordance with the school's food policies.  

Price:
£6.60 (inc. VAT) per session.  Payment for the full 8 weeks is taken as a one-off Direct Debit of £52.80. 

This is NOT a recurring payment and you will NOT be entered into a subscription.
